Debate 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka proposes medical cannabis exports to ease its currency crisis

State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Sisira Jayakody told Parliament that Sri Lanka would draft a legal framework within three months to export medical cannabis, strictly for foreign sale. The proposal came as reserves fell and the government resisted an IMF programme; a 2020 export idea had failed to win support after senior ministers opposed it. No law or licence followed at the time.[1]
