Tightening 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka extends drug offences to ships on the high seas

Act No. 7 of 2026, certified on 6 March 2026, added section 54AA to the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, covering drug offences on Sri Lankan and stateless ships on the high seas. It kept the death penalty for manufacturing heroin, cocaine, morphine or opium in those circumstances but did not make cannabis a death-eligible drug. Domestic cannabis rules were unchanged.[1][2]
