Sri Lanka lets seven foreign investors grow cannabis for export

Seven investors chosen from 37 applicants received six-month licences to grow cannabis on Board of Investment land at Mirigama, the first legal commercial cultivation in the country. Each must invest at least five million US dollars and lodge a two-million-dollar bond with the central bank, fence and guard the site, and export the whole crop; none may be used in Sri Lanka.[1]
