Sri Lanka's National Dangerous Drugs Control Board begins operating

Established under Act 11 of 1984, the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board began operating as the principal national institution for drug-abuse policy. Its remit included coordinating prevention and control, advising the minister, and promoting treatment and rehabilitation. The institution addressed the wider drug framework, including cannabis, without itself authorising cannabis possession or supply.[1]
