Catalonia's Health Department put a pilot therapeutic-cannabis programme into operation in 2006. Patients received the standardised extract Sativex through foreign-medicine or compassionate-use routes, with observational follow-up in the Seguivex and Seguivex-Emesis studies. The programme involved hospital selection and dispensing with pharmacy follow-up; it was not general retail access to cannabis.[1]
