Culture & science 🇻🇨 Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Saint Vincent starts growing cannabis commercially in the 1970s

Commercial cultivation began in the 1970s: the hilly volcanic interior, rich soil and scattered empty islands made the country an excellent place to grow and move cannabis.[1] Before that most local cannabis came from Colombia or Trinidad.[1] Many of the new growers were young people who had worked on banana farms until price downturns collapsed the banana industry.[1]
