Law 3 of 2020 replaced ministry, court and prosecution names across the 1987 drug law and gave customs officers and health inspectors judicial police powers to inspect pharmacies, hospitals and drug premises. It also repealed the article that allowed courts to investigate the origin of a drug suspect's property. The personal-use sentence stayed at six months to three years and QR10,000 to QR20,000, the range set in 2006; the official gazette published the law on 18 February 2020 and it took effect the next day.[1][2]
