Puerto Rico removes a disability protection barrier for cannabis patients

Registered medical-cannabis use could no longer by itself exclude a person from Puerto Rico’s disability-protection law through its restriction on illegal-drug users. Lawmakers said the earlier medical and employment reforms had left a gap because federal drug rules still treated cannabis as illegal. The change followed the separate 2021 protections against workplace discrimination.[1][2]
