Puerto Rico’s governor orders a route to medical cannabis

Governor Alejandro García Padilla directed the health secretary to follow the drug law’s procedures, reclassify cannabis components as appropriate and authorise their medical use. The order argued that patients’ health required distinguishing medical from nonmedical use and required a progress report within three months. Regulations and licensing followed before dispensaries began serving patients in December 2016.[1][2]
