Poland's Constitutional Tribunal upholds the ban on possession and growing

A man convicted of growing cannabis and possessing marijuana argued that the penalties violated his right to decide about his own life. The Tribunal held that articles 62(1) and 63(1) of the drug act are consistent with the constitution, as a justified limit on privacy for the sake of health and public order. It added that the legislator could choose otherwise, on the basis of research. The judge rapporteur said there was essentially no justification for banning possession and use on medical grounds, for instance in terminal illness, and the Tribunal decided to signal the matter to the legislator.[1][2][3]
