In People v. Aminnudin, G.R. 74869, the Supreme Court excluded cannabis seized during an unlawful warrantless arrest and bag search after a passenger left a ship in Iloilo. Officers had advance information and at least two days to seek warrants; the circumstances did not fit the claimed warrantless-arrest exceptions. Without the seized evidence, the Court reversed the life sentence and acquitted him. The decision enforced search-and-seizure protections rather than legalising possession.[1]
