Hemp 🇳🇿 New Zealand

New Zealand lets hemp be grown on notice instead of under licence

Amendment regulations replaced the hemp licensing scheme of 2006. Hemp, cannabis of at most 1% THC by dry weight and the seed of such plants, may now be grown, processed, held and supplied within New Zealand without a licence for specified purposes, among them breeding, making hemp products and supplying the medicinal cannabis scheme. A grower must first notify both Police and the Ministry for Primary Industries; a notification is valid for a year. Importing and exporting hemp plants and seed still needs a licence. Hemp remains a controlled drug outside these rules, and growing any other cannabis is still a crime.[1][2][3]
