Campaigners launch a medical cannabis society in Kathmandu

The Marijuana Medical Society held its first national conference at Shivaratri in 2011 and demanded that doctors be allowed to prescribe cannabis. Its members, including people living with HIV, argued that cannabis eased pain, nausea and appetite loss and could replace expensive imported medicines. They said the Drug Act 1975 already allowed prescription use but that no rules said who could prescribe it or how it would be supplied.[1]
