Mali put operational coordination of drug investigations in the hands of a central office with criminal-investigation powers. Its director or delegate could authorise controlled deliveries and undercover requests to sell drugs, with immediate notice to the relevant prosecutor or judge. The amendment updated the 2001 law's enforcement machinery; international trafficking cases could be transferred to the office at the specialised prosecutor's request.[1]
