Britain signs the 1936 convention against drug trafficking

The Geneva Convention for the Suppression of the Illicit Traffic in Dangerous Drugs was signed on 26 June 1936 and came into force on 26 October 1939. It required parties to criminalise trafficking in the drugs already controlled by earlier treaties, a list that included Indian hemp. Britain signed for its territories; Malaya's separate application is not recorded in the Malayan gazette.[1]
