Kuwait executed five men on 27 July 2023, among them a Sri Lankan convicted of possessing intoxicating drugs with intent to traffic. It was the first execution for a drug offence since 2007, when a Pakistani man was hanged for heroin trafficking, according to a chronicle of Kuwaiti executions. The other four had been convicted of murder or of logistics for the 2015 Imam al-Sadeq mosque bombing.[1][2]
