Jordan raids marijuana farms and arrests 35 in a nationwide sweep

Police arrested 35 people in 13 drugs-and-weapons cases across Jordan in early February 2026. Raids on three marijuana-growing sites in Southern Shouneh led to two arrests, and in Amman officers detained four dealers with 5 kg of marijuana; they also seized hashish blocks, crystal meth and firearms in Ma'an, Zarqa, Ajloun and Ramtha. The Public Security Directorate said the operations were part of a wider campaign against trafficking and smuggling; Jordan and Syria had agreed in January 2025 to a joint security committee on border drug smuggling.[1]
