A grower in Lombardy had been convicted for seven cannabis plants. Lower courts disagreed on whether growing for your own use was a crime, and the Court of Cassation's united sections settled it: any unauthorised growing was, however small and whatever the purpose, and the conviction stood. Only plants that could not produce anything with a noticeable drug effect fell outside the offence. Later rulings changed this, and in 2019 the court accepted minimal home growing.[1]
