Carabinieri found a man asleep in his car, and he handed them 97 grams of loose marijuana, saying it was for his own use as a Rastafarian. He was sentenced to sixteen months in prison and a €4,000 fine for holding it for supply, and the conviction was upheld on appeal in 2004. The Court of Cassation found the courts had relied on the weight and ignored his religion and the circumstances, and sent the case to the Florence appeal court to be judged again.[1]
