Iraqi Kurdistan's new drug law treats users as patients

The Kurdistan Region replaced Iraq's Law 68 of 1965 with a narcotics law of its own that treats addicts and users as patients. In 2023 the head of the region's judicial council called for it to be made harsher, with at least five years in prison for users and life or death for traffickers.[1]
