Figures from the General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, made public in January 2025, show that 144 people described as international drug traffickers were sentenced to death in 2024 and 434 local traffickers to life imprisonment. About 14,000 dealers and possessors were arrested and six tonnes of narcotics seized.[1]
