The DR Congo acceded to the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances on 12 October 1977, extending its drug-treaty commitments beyond the narcotic drugs covered by the Single Convention. The accession followed its 1973 accession to the Single Convention and its 1976 acceptance of that convention's 1972 Protocol. Accession to the 1988 convention against drug trafficking followed much later, in 2005.[1]
