Czechoslovakia's new criminal code punishes possession
The communist-era criminal code made it a crime to produce, import or keep narcotics without permission, with up to two years in prison. Cannabis was barely known in Czechoslovakia at the time; home-grown use spread in the 1970s and 1980s.
