Croatian pharmacies run out of cannabis medicine, and nobody reorders

Two imports of cannabis oil, 1,200 bottles each, had been approved in 2016, after a Canadian firm briefly supplied capsules; in 2017 only fifteen bottles of Sativex came in. When the last stock expired in March 2018 the state institute that imported the drops placed no new order, for lack of demand. A month's treatment cost 2,000 to 3,000 kuna, the health fund paid nothing, and at one Zagreb hospital only two multiple sclerosis patients had asked for a prescription in 2017. In 2025 a market survey found no cannabis medicine on sale in the country.[1][2][3]
