At the national World Drug Day ceremony on Grande Comore, the interior minister, Mohamed Ahmed Assoumani, said the police, gendarmerie, coast guard and customs had seized 585 kg of cannabis between 2023 and 2025, along with 15.5 kg of heroin and other substances, and that 27 overdose deaths had been recorded in the same period. The government described its response as combining security, health and social action; the World Health Organization called for prevention and better access to care.[1]
