Bahrain ends its execution pause with three firing-squad deaths

Bahrain executed three Shia men by firing squad on 15 January 2017 for a 2014 bombing that killed three police officers, the first executions in more than six years. The resumption ended the de facto moratorium that had been in place since 2010, although no drug offender has been executed. The last execution of any kind was in 2019, and Bahrain carried out none in 2023, 2024 or 2025.[1][2][3]
