A US appeals court protects doctors' medical cannabis recommendations

In Conant v. Walters, the Ninth Circuit upheld an injunction preventing federal action against physicians solely for recommending medical cannabis on the basis of sincere medical judgment. The protection concerned physician-patient communication, not dispensing cannabis or intentionally assisting its unlawful acquisition. It did not create a general federal right to prescribe or possess cannabis.[1][2]
