Uruguay reorganises national drug-policy coordination

Decree 170/000 revised the National Drugs Board's membership and responsibilities, placing the presidency's deputy secretary in the chair and assigning the board multilateral drug-policy relations. Its remit combined prevention of problematic use and treatment with action against trafficking, precursors and money laundering. The National Drugs Secretariat coordinated implementation across those areas. This was an institutional reorganisation, not a new cannabis possession offence or a legal supply system. The date is the decree's promulgation; the official text records publication on 14 June 2000.[1]
