Britain's drugs advisers play down the risks of cannabis

An Expert Group on Cannabis set up by the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, made up of medical and scientific authorities and chaired by the pharmacologist J. D. P. Graham, downplayed the risks of cannabis. Attention turned to its possible benefits, especially for the side effects of cancer treatment; the synthetic cannabinoid nabilone was licensed two years later.[1]
