The general legislation committee of parliament heard representatives of the interior ministry on a members' bill to amend Law 52 of 18 May 1992 on narcotics. The ministry reported about 15,253 drug cases in 2025 involving about 27,338 people, nearly 89% of them aged 19 to 40. It said a commission drawn from all the ministries and bodies concerned would prepare a text for an overall revision of the law, and proposed updating the schedules of substances annexed to it.[1]
