Debate 🇷🇴 Romania

Romanian deputies propose fines instead of criminal charges for three grams

Deputies introduced a bill to replace criminal penalties for possessing up to three grams of cannabis for personal use with fines of 1,000–3,000 lei.[1][2] It proposed using the revenue for prevention and support services and exempting medically prescribed cannabis possession from the personal-use penalties.[1] REPER’s sponsors argued that prosecution damaged users’ records and obstructed treatment; the Senate later rejected the proposal.[3][2]
