Réunion's 2025 drug survey reports imports supplanting zamal

The French drug observatory's September 2026 report on 2025 found home-grown zamal at about €10 a roll of roughly 10 g with quality still declining, while imported skunk at €10 a gram was supplanting it and imported resin sold at about €20 a gram.[1] Customs and police tightened air and sea controls: three operations searching all baggage at the airport seized 20 kg of cannabis resin, 58 air mules were intercepted, and the prefecture campaigned against mules while naming consumer repression a priority.[1]

The story

The French drug observatory’s September 2026 report on 2025 found home-grown zamal at about €10 a roll of roughly 10 g with quality still declining, while imported skunk at €10 a gram was supplanting it and imported resin sold at about €20 a gram.[1]

Customs and police tightened air and sea controls under the prefect’s impulse: three operations searching all baggage at Roland-Garros airport seized 20 kg of cannabis resin, and 58 air mules were intercepted in 2025.[1]

The prefecture campaigned against mules at the airport while the gendarmerie command named consumer repression a priority.[1]
