Pakistan prescribes death or life for more than a kilo of cannabis

The 1995 narcotics ordinance prescribed death or life imprisonment, plus a fine of at least one million rupees, for cannabis quantities above one kilogram.[1] Its lowest band allowed up to two years, a fine, or both for up to ten grams; the middle band required three to seven years and a fine.[1] The 1997 Act later widened the lowest band to 100 grams.[2]
