A New Zealand parliamentary committee finds the harms of cannabis overstated

The ten-member health select committee, chaired by Brian Neeson, reported that the mental health effects of cannabis appeared to have been overstated and that moderate use did not seem to harm most people who tried it. It recommended that the government review its cannabis policy; Neeson worried that illegality kept people from seeking treatment. It was described as the first such inquiry since 1973.[1]
