Macau’s replacement drug law took effect on 9 September 2009, keeping illicit consumption and specified personal-use acts, including growing and possession, punishable by up to three months in prison or a fine of up to sixty day-rates.[1] A lesser production and trafficking tier carried one to five years, assessed using circumstances and five times a listed daily reference quantity.[1] It replaced the 1991 law; the 2016 amendment later raised personal-use penalties and extended the quantity rule.[1][2]
