Libyan forces seize five tonnes of hashish and break up a growing network

Security forces raided a network in the Green Mountain near Taknes, about 127 km east of Benghazi, at dawn on 19 July. They seized five tonnes of hashish and broke up what officials called a cannabis cultivation and processing operation, arresting several people. It was the first raid of its kind in the region against large-scale cannabis production, and it showed that cannabis is grown in Libya as well as smuggled into it.[1]
