The Libyan Arab Armed Forces began executing prisoners sentenced by military courts, ending a de facto moratorium observed since 2010. At least 31 people were put to death by 10 September, and the reported cases were murder and terrorism-related convictions in trials rights groups called unfair. No reported case involved cannabis, but the resumption showed that the death penalty is again being carried out in Libya.[1][2]
