Iran Human Rights and ECPM counted 503 executions on drug charges in 2024, up from 471 in 2023 and far above the average of roughly two dozen a year recorded in 2018–2020. The groups say only a small fraction of drug executions are announced by the authorities. The 2025 count later rose to 795, or 48.5% of all executions that year.[1]
