Tightening 🇭🇳 Honduras

Honduras's replacement drug law takes effect

Decree 126-89 prohibited cannabis cultivation and prescribed nine to twelve years' imprisonment plus a fine for illicit growing. Minimum quantities for immediate personal consumption, assessed medically, brought security measures under Article 26: up to thirty days' internment and a fine for a first case, escalating measures for repetition, and rehabilitation confinement for dependent users. Above that minimum, possession fell under the trafficking provision. Adopted on 5 September and published on 23 November, the law took effect twenty days after publication, on 13 December. Articles 16 to 30 and 41 were later repealed when the criminal code commenced on 25 June 2020.[1]
