French Cameroon extends drug penalties and compulsory treatment

French-administered Cameroon promulgated the extension of France's pharmacy-code drug rules, including doubled penalties for illicit drug cultivation or manufacture and powers to order people charged with specified narcotics offences into detoxification. The French law also doubled penalties for supplying minors or helping them use drugs. The local order cited the earlier 1926 poisonous-substances rules, which already controlled hashish and punished group use.[1][2]
