Finland begins granting patient-specific medical cannabis permits

Index score

1314

+1 point

Medical cannabis became available through individual special permits, with one permit recorded in 2006 and one in 2007. This was a narrow route for named patients, not general marketing authorisation: a 2011 report described annual permits and specialist assessment after other treatments proved unsuitable or ineffective. Sativex's separate marketing authorisation followed in 2012.[1]
