Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica told Parliament the government aimed to table a medicinal cannabis bill in 2025, after delays in the legislative review. Cabinet had approved the initiative in August 2023 and a taskforce of 12 departments has worked on it since. Seventeen consultations held from 9 October to 28 November 2024 drew more than 500 people, 75 per cent of whom supported legalising cannabis for medicinal purposes. The industry is planned as export-only.[1]
