Law 35-90 amended the drug law of 1988. A court's habeas corpus ruling in a drug case was suspended while under appeal, so a person ordered released stayed in custody. Controlled substances could enter the country only through the ports of Haina and Santo Domingo and the Las Américas airport, a list of precursor chemicals was added, and the head of the drug directorate could assign firearms to its members.[1]
