Botswana grants, then withdraws, its first exemption to grow cannabis and hemp

In August 2018 a company, Fresh Standard, proposed to the agriculture minister to grow and process cannabis and hemp for medical and industrial use, and the ministry's permanent secretary approved an exemption under the Plant Protection Act. After the company acquired land and planted, police narcotics officers removed the crop, and in May 2019 the ministry revoked the exemption by letter.[1]
