Belarus’s lower house backs sentence cuts for first-time drug offenders

Belarus’s lower house approved an amnesty bill that would cut a year from eligible first-time drug sentences. The proposal accompanied the eightieth anniversary of victory in the Second World War and still needed to complete the legislative process. The final law took effect on 8 May, widening eligibility while retaining exclusions and individual conditions.[1][2][3][4]
