A survey by Stoletova reported that hemp was rarely used for fibre in Armenia, where wool was the common material; Russian settlements were the exception. Stems served as supports for vines. She recorded cultivated hemp, the wild ruderalis form and hybrids between them. Under Soviet rule botanists had very restricted access to wild cannabis, which is why it is scarce in the herbaria.[1]
