Abkhazia sets six to eight years in prison for cannabis growing

Index score

−2 points

Abkhazia’s rewritten cultivation offence prescribed six to eight years in prison and a fine of 100,000–150,000 rubles for sowing or growing prohibited drug plants, expressly including cannabis.[1] Group, organised-group or large-scale growing carried ten to twelve years.[1] The code attributes this wording to the amendment of 21 July 2009; later court guidance also treated setting up special growing conditions as cultivation.[1][2]
