Venezuela's top court opens sentencing alternatives for minor drug cases

Venezuela's Supreme Court adopted a binding rule allowing alternatives to prosecution and prison execution in lower-quantity drug-trafficking cases.[1] Its later decision identifies the smaller cannabis-trafficking and seed, resin and plant bands as covered, including no more than ten plants or three hundred grams of seed or resin.[1] The court said cases should be assessed individually for their social harm.[1]
