The United States approves synthetic THC as a medicine

The Food and Drug Administration approved dronabinol, synthetic THC in sesame oil sold as Marinol; its approved uses are nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy and loss of appetite in HIV/AIDS. On 13 May 1986 the capsules were moved from Schedule I to Schedule II, and in 1999 to Schedule III. The plant itself stayed in Schedule I.[1]
