Hawaiʻi begins Operation Green Harvest

Operation Green Harvest began on Hawaiʻi Island, targeting outdoor cannabis cultivation with police and National Guard helicopter support. The campaign subsequently expanded across the islands. A later National Guard chronology records its Green Harvest helicopter-support phase from August 1978; this is distinct from the programme’s reported 1976 beginning.[1][2]
